Kelly McLeod

In order to better support our artists, we have enlisted videographer James Dobos to shoot introductory videos which we are posting to the website to help you get better acquainted with the diverse community that makes up A Gift of Art.

Kelly McLeod

Kelly is a self-taught, life-long drawing and painting artist, in addition to being an avid third generation gardener.

She paints mostly landscapes in a variety of pigment media. In 2015, Kelly was introduced to wet & dry felting manipulations to create landscape “paintings” which exhibit depth and contrasting textures within a two-dimensional canvas.

Kelly credits Laurie Goldiuk and her Black Lamb Fibre Art Studio in Port Hope, and thanks her for her unwavering support and inspiration, as Kelly continues her explorations with wool.

Fibre arts are being recognized more in the wider world of art. With Kelly’s background in painting in oils and acrylics, she uses a similar painterly approach to “painting” with wool.

She visualizes the colours the same way she paints. To date, she has been enjoying creating landscape scenes including, storms, fires, and celestial light, working to capture the energy and feel of these dramatic scenes from nature.
