Introduction to Soapstone Carving Workshop for Adults with Peter Martin Ages 13+

Saturday, September 26, 2020

10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Schedule subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

* New for Fall 2020: Our base class prices have not increased, however we are adding a temporary fee of $10.00 per class series and $5.00 per workshop to begin to cover additional costs for sanitizing supplies, masks and gloves. We hope you understand our need to do this. Hopefully, by December 31st we will no longer have to ask for this assistance. Thank you for your continued support. Indoor classes will be limited to a maximum of 4 or 5 depending on the class. Outdoor classes (weather permitting) will be limited to 6 in the main tent, and 2 per auxilliary tent.

Please note this Workshop will be Outdoors under a tent in the rear garden of the Gallery.

Peter Martin will help you gain a better understanding of the beauty and techniques used in the ancient Inuit art form of soapstone carving. With Peter’s guidance, you will learn how to turn a rough cut piece of soapstone into a beautiful carving of a Mother Loon. There is no requirement to know how to carve but some hand strength is advisable in order to complete your piece in the required time.
