Introduction to Soapstone Carving Workshop for adults with Peter Martin

Peter Martin will help you gain a better understanding of the beauty and techniques used in the ancient Inuit art form of soapstone carving. There is no requirement to know how to carve but some hand strength is advisable in order to complete your piece in the required time.

With Peter’s help you will learn how to work a rough cut piece of soapstone into a beautiful carving of a Mother Loon. All tools and materials will be provided for the Materials fee of $20.00.

Supply Cost: $20.00 paid directly to Instructor.

Instructor Bio:

Peter retired in 2007 after a long and successful Sales career in the transportation industry.

Since that time he has developed his skills as a Soapstone Carver and has established a business that trades as Stone Art by Peter.

He has exhibited and sold his work at several private and public galleries in Durham Region and teaches his art form to children and adults at several different venues in his hometown of Oshawa and Fenelon Falls where he spends his summers.
