Introduction to Soapstone Carving Workshop for Kids with Peter Martin

Peter Martin will help you gain a better understanding of the beauty and techniques used in the ancient Inuit art form of soapstone carving. In this class for ages 6-12, you will work with a raw piece and carve a medallion.

Children will be working with a pre-cut piece of soapstone and shaping it into a beautiful medallion or subject of your choice. All tools and materials are supplied by Peter Martin and the cost of $8.00 will be paid directly to him.

Supply Cost: $8.00 paid directly to Instructor.

Registration is a two-step process:

Instructor Bio:

Peter retired in 2007 after a long and successful Sales career in the transportation industry.

Since that time he has developed his skills as a Soapstone Carver and has established a business that trades as Stone Art by Peter.

He has exhibited and sold his work at several private and public galleries in Durham Region and teaches his art form to children and adults at several different venues in his hometown of Oshawa and Fenelon Falls where he spends his summers.
