A Cake on the Roof, Sounds Crazy, no?

A cake on the roof… Sounds crazy, no?

But here, in our little town of Newcastle, you might say … no, yeah it’s still pretty crazy, but it looks good!

Over the past few days you may have seen a strange sight at A Gift of Art … a giant cake sitting atop our roof.

The lovely creation was hauled up there by Tyson Gimblett (look him up, he does great work!) where it was assembled by his dedicated hands. Once the cake was all put together and standing tall we took a photo of Tyson standing next to our new roof ornament. Tyson looked pleased …

… until we realized that it was not in the right place on the roof. After several minutes of pulling, Tyson managed to get the cake into position, without (thank goodness) having to dismantle it again. Now it sits atop our roof as a symbol of Canadian Pride and artistic prowess.

Designed by our Co-Manager, Emily Buckley. Painted By Nolan Yeo and Iris Kowalewski. Maple leaves and topper added / painted by Iris Kowalewski.

  1. But here, in our little village of Anatevka, you might say every one of us is a fiddler on the roof trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck.
